After the Injury

A patient education site developed by Hall Media for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) received a 2008 WebAward for Outstanding Achievement in website development. The Web Marketing Association award recognizes work above and beyond the standard of excellence.

“After the Injury: Helping Parents Help Their Kids Recover” (www.aftertheinjury.org) was conceived by the Center for Injury Research and Prevention at CHOP. The content was derived from the Center’s research, best practice, and clinical experience with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is meant to help parents identify and begin to address traumatic stress reactions in children and teens who have been injured.

Hall Media designed and developed the site with help from parents, who stressed the importance of interactivity and personalization in usability studies. Among the multimedia and interactive tools available on the site is a “Care Plan” that parents can personalize to address the specific needs of their child and their own concerns.
